NFL
kick-off starts off with tomorrow's contest of Indianapolis at New
England. The common perception is that the Patriots won because they
mugged the Colts receivers. Yes, that they did. However, we
feel it may be more accurate to say that the Patriots won because Bill
Belichick out coached Tony Dungy. After all haven't the Patriots been
mugging receivers in the post season since they won their first Superbowl
three years ago? Didn't Dungy have a clue that's what they should
expect going into Foxboro? During last years AFC championship game
both teams were treated equally by the officials... and that's the best
any team can hope for. Here's our quick and dirty on this week's NFL
action (all picks ATS):
New
England vs Indianapolis - Colts secondary is banged up. Look for the
Patriots to cover the number and control the game on the ground.
Miami
vs Tennessee - Last year Titans stopped the Fish cold at home... this year
take the field goal and look for a spirited effort from Miami in
their opener.
Pittsburgh
vs Oakland - Steelers secondary is still not able to stop anybody,
unfortunately Oakland doesn't have the offensive line to take advantage.
Washington
vs Tampa Bay - RFK will be a-rockin. Don't see the Bucs able to
uncork their offense. Washington's defense could surprise
this year.
Cleveland
vs Baltimore - Brown's running game is
questionable, and their offensive line has a weak link. Baltimore
rolls (again).
Buffalo
vs Jacksonville - Bledsoe's our pick for "come back player of the
year". New HC Mularkey has put an emphasis on improving his
game. Bills should win a low scoring affair.
NY
Jets vs Cincinnati - This might be an exciting game to
watch. Gotta bet Pennington and the Jets will pick apart the
questionable Bengals secondary.
Chicago
vs Detroit - Lions have lost 24 straight on the road... if we had
to bet on this one we don't think the streak will get to 25. Bears
(giving a FG) have too many question marks on defense.
St.
Louis vs Arizona - Cardinals don't enough weapons on offense to keep
up in a shooting match.
Philadelphia
vs NY Giants - The concussions keep coming for Warner.
Minnesota
vs Dallas - Parcell's too cagy to get blown out in this spot. Boy'z
match-up well to Vikes so we'll go with Dallas and the points.
San
Francisco vs Atlanta - Could be an ugly game... we'll take the home
team to keep it close.
Denver
vs Kansas City - So Denver now has a "shut-down corner"... to
put on Gonzalez? We'll take the Bronco's at home to win by a
TD.
Monday
Carolina vs Green Bay - One of the leagues premier D-lines (Carolina)
against one of the leagues premier O-lines... This might be a great Monday
night game to watch, because both teams have advantages they can
exploit.... We'll hold off on calling this one till Sunday night :)
