Why don't you post the spread with your picks ?

Our attorney advised us not to.  According to the FCC it's illegal to use telephone lines to make picks ATS. This is a gray area regarding the internet and overseas casino's. So we error on the side of covering our ass.

What line are you posting your opinions against ?

We provide links on our page to several Vegas Books via our DBC link on the home page. Our opinions trickle in from Sunday evening through Thursday morning, EST.  The bulk of them are usually posted by Wednesday evening.  Our releases are good against the line at the Stardust at the time they are posted.  We do our homework early, and will always take credit for beating the public (the weekend warriors) to a good number.  We also send in our picks to TrackPicks.com, a handicappers monitoring service.  There are numerous books in Vegas, and over 2000 internet operations. It is up to each player to find the best line he can find.

Where can I find a good bookmaker ?

Nevada. Go to the message board and ask.  We don't recommend a specific casino or affiliate with other service's.

Why do you put out so many picks ?

The other part of this question is aren't you worried the juice will wash you out?  There are different wagering philosophies out there with some merit. One is to just pick a few plays and wager more on each one, the other is to pick a lot of plays and wager less.  Everybody has to find what works for them.  We've found that mathematically our best return over the long haul comes by placing a relatively  high number of releases, and sustaining a modest 54-58 winning percentage. For more on this topic visit our Money Management page.

There are about 60 NCAA games to pick from each week. We've found that we can maintain a positive winning percentage by finding what we feel are the best value picks in about 8 to 16% of those 60 games. The same ratio works for the pro's.

Who is BigAl ?

His dad doesn't know, His wife doesn't know, Hell - he doesn't know.  What kind of question is that?

What is a line trap ?

In my opinion there is no such thing as a "line trap" per se.  This is an expression often used by handicapping services to scare people into thinking there's a big conspiracy out there.  Think of Vegas as a money broker. They don't care who wins when the line is initially posted on Sunday night. They want to bring in wagers evenly on both sides of a line.  Points are scored primarily in groups of  7 and 3, and to a lesser extent 6, 2, & 1...because of this there are key spread numbers that teams often win by.  Thus a line will usually not stray too far from the originally posted closest key spread number. The line moves inversely from the side that most of the money is coming in on. The house's goal is to even the drop on both sides of a line. IMO there is no such thing as a "line trap", only unknowledgeable bettors.

Why don't you pick all the games ?

We feel the strongest tool a handicapper has over the house... is that he can pass on a game. The house has to put up a line on every contest. We respect the house and their ability. We're wary of the house.  Most of the time the best play, is no play.  We're just going to play the games where we feel there is value.  We're just two guys, who like what we're doing; it would be irresponsible of us to post an opinion on every game.  If you specifically ask on the message board about a contest not among our key releases, we might give you a quick opinion.

What is your pick for Monday Night  ?

This usually comes from someone who got beat up over the weekend, and is forcing a play on Monday.  We analyze Monday and Thursday night games through the same filtering process as all the other games. If we don't feel there is enough value on a side, we won't make a play, regardless of how we fared the day before.
